FLAVOUR PROFILE
The Alphonso mango's reputation isn't marketing. It's chemistry, agronomy, and geography working together.
The laterite soil of the Konkan coast — iron-rich, low in organic content — is uniquely suited to producing the stress conditions that concentrate sugars in Alphonso fruit. The sea breeze, the specific humidity, and the absence of frost create a microclimate that cannot be replicated in a different geography.

BUYER'S GUIDE
The mango market is flooded with impostors - Kesar mangoes, Ratnagiri-from-other-states mangoes, or even Safeda mangoes passed off as Alphonso.

Skin should be smooth, firm but yielding slightly to pressure when ripe
Aroma - detectable 30cm from your nose. Fake Hapus doesn't smell right
Absolutely no fibrous strands when you eat the flesh
Flat, thin seed with thick pulp all around
Alphonso mango price per kg ranges from ₹350–₹700 for A-grade Ratnagiri and ₹400–₹800 for Devgad, depending on season timing and fruit size. Prices are highest in March and settle by May.
